Wacky Wednesday (Younger Oncology)

| June 13, 2019

Wednesdays only mean one thing here at the Indian Summer Camp. Poop Day! Those who are familiar with this holiday know we take it very seriously. We woke up prepared with poop day buttons on deck for any and every camper who celebrated the occasion. We wear our poop emoji buttons with pride along with many others we have collected throughout the week.

We had a great start to the morning with 23 Polar Bear swimmers taking the plunge in very chilly temperatures of 55 degrees! Others participated in non-yoga, which involved screaming and crazy moves, that were the opposite of relaxing yoga poses. It was even fun for those watching.

For breakfast we ate waffles, sausage, bacon and cereal! After our campers were full and fueled for the day, they headed off for cabin choice. We had so much fun participating in fishing, boating, crafts and archery tag. With new fishing records and archery tag high scores, we are excited to see what the rest of the week has in store.

Lunch was provided by Taco Bell, donated by Yum Brands! Our hungry kiddos enjoyed a lunch of tacos, burritos and cinnamon twist. The meal did not disappoint! After lunch, our campers took turns swimming and doing more art and crafts. During this time, we had Snowhat Snowballs come out to serve shaved ice to everyone. Our campers loved the unique flavors like rainbow and tigers blood. We also spent our afternoon putting rubber bands on a watermelon in hopes that it would explode. After 760 rubber bands without an explosion, we decided to postpone adding any additional rubber bands until tomorrow. Stay Tuned!

For dinner, we enjoyed baked spaghetti, broccoli and breadsticks. Of course, our famous grilled cheese station is always in service. After dinner, a little bit of thunder and rain came through, which moved everyone inside the dining hall for cookie decorating. We had spaceship cookies, circus cookies and many other cool shapes and scenes to choose from. We have some very talented campers that may have a future in the cookie decorating business. After the campers finished, the rain cleared up for us to have some wacky fun before bed. We had a camp-wide water balloon and shaving cream fight. What a blast!

After we hosed the campers off it was time for bed. Tomorrow morning is sleep in day and we cannot wait. Our week has been amazing so far and we are looking forward to a few more days of making memories and friendships.

Goodnight from Indian Summer Camp.
