Thursday Food Extravaganza (Younger Oncology)

| June 14, 2019

We cannot believe it is already Thursday here at Indian Summer Camp. It was “sleep in” day, so we woke up an hour later than usual, which was much needed for everyone. Our Polar Bear swimmers had a blustery plunge with the temperature being only 58 degrees. With only 22 brave campers, our Polar Bear swim group keeps getting smaller as the days go on! We had to cancel yoga this morning because our mats would not stay put with all of the wind. However, we will try again tomorrow!

Our campers demolished breakfast this morning. There were no left over biscuits and gravy in sight. After breakfast, the entire camp played a food extravaganza game. With games like super market Sweep, oatmeal seek & find, egg toss and more! Our kiddos had an amazing time getting messy while having fun.

For lunch, we ate chicken fingers and mac and cheese; a popular favorite food here at camp. Our usual quiet time followed.  Campers took naps and tidied up their cabin, in hopes to win the Clean Cabin award at dinner. Those who win the Clean Cabin award, not only get a prize, but also get to sit at the “chef’s table” with a chocolate fountain centerpiece.

We have had treats galore this week at camp! We want to give a special shout out to the Williams family and Brittany’s Blankets, for brining banana pudding and cupcakes to our campers for the 13th year in a row! This is a camp-wide tradition we greatly love and enjoy each year.

After quiet time, we all came together for our Celebration of Life. Every year we celebrate those who are no longer with us, the friends we have made at camp and the memories we made this summer. We spent the rest of the afternoon fishing, swimming, boating and doing crafts.

Our campers quickly ate pizza for dinner so we could start our evening activity, which was our annual talent show. We have so many amazing talents here at camp. Some might say it was the best one yet!

After the talent show, our campers enjoyed a cool treat, and headed outside for our closing camp ceremony. We threw wish sticks into a campfire, while reflecting on the fun we had this week. We ended the evening by having cabins send lanterns into the sky one by one.

We are excited for our last day of camp, but we aren’t ready for the week to end. The campers are tucked in bed now getting their beauty sleep for the dance tomorrow.

Goodnight from Indian Summer Camp.
