Ringing the New Year, Camp Style
| July 16, 2022
Happy Friday, or rather Happy New Years for those at camp this week! Our campers woke up to the sweet sound of the Polar Bear Swim call, then sat down to a cinnamon roll and scrambled egg breakfast before heading out for cabin & camper choice activities.
Campers spent their morning in the Arts & Crafts Pavilion, at the lake fishing, kayaking, and paddle boating, searching for more geodes and crawdads in the creek, and putting their way through the mini golf course. After lunch, we spent the afternoon getting in our last swimtimes of the week, finishing our art projects, and getting final dress fittings in preparation for the “New Years Eve” Closing Dance. Then we had an all-camp drum circle that was super fun!
After dinner, campers excitedly got all spiffed up for the dance. The Closing Dance is currently underway and campers are having an absolute ball! They are even enjoying homemade biscuit donuts – a camp specialty; and we’ll be surprising them with a balloon ball drop to conclude the evening.
While we’re sad the camp week is coming to a close, we are so very thankful to families for entrusting us with your campers this week. We had an absolute blast CELEBRATING with them and making up for all the time we spent apart the last few years! We hope your family will keep in touch with us at Kids Cancer Alliance and participate in our year around programs. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for children with cancer and their families and ensure local families are not alone in their childhood cancer journey.
Reminder: Camper Pick-up is TOMORROW, Saturday 7/16 from 9:00-11:00am.
